We operate in over 90 countries and have a workforce of 4,000 talented, motivated, and diverse staff of all religions, races, languages, and gender identities.This Opportunity:Palladium is recruiting for a Regional Grants Associate, LATAM with a passion for building regional linkages in Latin America to enable accelerated carbon reductions to join our UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) team for the Amazon Fund as well as UK PACT wider bilateral work in the Latin America countries. The UK PACT programme aims to improve the effectiveness of key institutions (public, private and civil society) in partner countries so that they can deliver accelerated emission reductions and raise the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) targets. Specifically, the programme will deliver the following results:

  • An increase in the capacity and capability of partner institutions (national, sub-national and civil society) to deliver enhanced and accelerated climate actions
  • An increase in in-country buy-in to urgently facilitate low-carbon development

  • This role will report to Regional Grants Manager Latin America.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:The Regional Grants Associate, LATAM will be part of the Amazon Fund Team and will support the implementation the UK PACT grants management framework, ensuring programme level guidance and tools are adapted and applied appropriately at the country and regional fund level. The role holder will work very closely and coordinate with the UK Mission to Latin America, as well as the relevant teams in British High Commission and Embassy teams in post in some Latin America countries to support pipeline development and grant management of Amazon Fund projects.Specifically, the Regional Grants Associate, LATAM will:Strategy Development and Engagement:

  • Support management of Amazon Fund grant funding windows to align with relevant UK PACT country implementation plans in Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela
  • Support market engagement to ensure the right local stakeholders are aware of, and well-placed to apply for Amazon Fund funding opportunities in the region
  • Support delivery of call for proposals for Amazon Fund in collaboration with UK Mission to Amazon Fund team, Posts, the Palladium team in the UK and the FCDO lead
  • Contribute to the Amazon Fund for project screening and selection process
  • Support the Amazon Fund Team / Latam Regional Grants Manager to ensure that all aspects of grant management are fully compliant with UK Government codes of conduct and good practice
  • Support budget assessment, due diligence, grants agreements and reporting for the Amazon Fund
  • Act as ‘on-the-ground’ liaison for Palladium affirming and implementing the FCDO strategy for the Amazon Fund, specifically, supporting day-to-day activities from stakeholder engagement and providing key contextual insights and overseeing the ongoing portfolio of grants in the region

Desirable Criteria:

  • Strong financial management and administration skills, with the ability to review and quality assure the financial reports of projects
  • Good knowledge and experience in managing grants mechanisms for FCDO
  • Good programme and grant management skills, with a proven track record of supporting management of a complex portfolio of grantees in various sectors
  • Some knowledge and understanding of the regional political economy and business operating context in Latin Ameriaca,
  • Amazon region, including socio-economic context and development challenges and priorities
  • Excellent organizational, inter-personal administration and communication skills
  • Professional fluency in English
  • A high degree of personal resilience, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Highly collaborative and committed to close working and open communication with colleagues in post and in the UK, and implementing partners
  • Commitment to neutrality in all dealings with stakeholders, including political stakeholders, to build trusted relationships and ensure maximum effectiveness of the programme
