What will I be doing?

As Engineering Manager, you will be part of the AD&C team, who collectively make key strategic decisions for Managed and Franchised development projects for all brands. This position is responsible for providing MEP&FP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire & Life Safety) engineering support from project inception to hotel opening. The geographic region covered by this position will include the Southern Cone countries in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay & Bolivia).

More specifically, you will:

  • Work with Hilton’s AD&C team to provide a review of MEP&FP design documents for hotel projects of all Hilton brands for assigned areas within the Southern Cone countries in South America.
  • Provide assistance to Project Managers in meeting engineering requirements initiated by the current Property Improvement Plan (PIP) for existing hotels, proposed hotel conversions, and proposed adaptive reuse properties.
  • Review 50% and 100% MEP&FP plans and specifications to ensure compliance with HW standards and prototype drawings.
  • Review primary construction submittals and shop drawings in detail to ensure compliance with Hilton standards and prototype drawings.
  • Visit projects (as needed) during construction to ensure compliance with the approved plans that were submitted. Address concerns immediately, in person, while at the site, and also provide detailed written correspondence following the site visit.
  • Review and propose revisions to standards and prototype drawings.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills, strong work/ethic, adaptability, and flexibility.
  • Ability to direct collaborative efforts of resources throughout the Hilton organization, including internal resources, external resources, and other constituent groups as appropriate with the aim of furthering Company goals.
  • Ability to lead change, resolve issues, and ensure collaboration within teams and/or units; including maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity.
  • Ability to take the initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for the team to fulfill responsibilities in keeping with core strategic goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to optimally address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate.
  • Proficient in Portuguese, Spanish, and English verbal and written communication skills.

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Experience preferred in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Design.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hospitality experience is preferred, including lead design roles in new construction and renovations.
  • Experience and knowledge of sustainable design, energy efficiency, and operations principles.
  • Professional Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering subject area, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to building Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Ability to travel as required.
