Job Description

Purpose of the position

Drive operational leadership and coaching within a set of assigned countries, work with CHEP leaders to ensure the company addresses and manages risks, meets its goals and objectives, including Leading and Lagging Indicators, develop Tier 2 and Tier 3 strategy for each country under scope, successfully implement all required programs, ensure compliance, meet customer requirements, drive continuous improvement, and attain standard culture and implementation across the South region. Provide functional leadership for all Health & Safety professionals, points of contact in the region, and members of the Health & Safety LATAM Committee. Interact with the Global H&S, BCM, Wellbeing team to align expectations and assist specific requirements. Support the SubCo Safety project with the selected sites launched on FY24, expand safety assessment with other SubCo sites in the North & CAM region.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-depth knowledge of health & safety, BCM risks presented by all CHEP’s regional operations
  • Delivers in-depth knowledge of health & safety regulatory requirements in every country where CHEP operates within the region in scope
  • Lead, coach, mentor operations within a set of assigned countries, across all CHEP Operations
  • Ensure health & safety, BCM compliance across South region
  • Drive risk reduction through mastery of technical defenses
  • Work with EHS Global team to ensure appropriate technical and regulatory competency for Health & Safety, BCM professionals and other operational employees
  • Provide operational assistance after any major health & safety, BCM event in the region, including incident investigation and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain relationships with regional health & safety, BCM regulatory bodies.
  • Master and drive continuous improvement of CHEP´s Health & Safety, BCM programs
  • Represent CHEP in regional external Health & Safety, BCM forums, if necessary
  • Manage SOPs and KPIs
  • Lead CHEP Latin America South towards continuous improvement on Leading and Lagging Indicators performance
  • Develop and lead implementation of all CHEP´s health & safety, BCM program Tier 3 and Tier 4, aligned to Global Tier 2 and LATAM Tier 2 strategies
  • Support actions and initiatives related to Health, Safety & Environmental certification programs
  • Connect with supply chain leaders to support implementation of SubCo Safety project at the selected sites, ensuring regional and global schedules are met accordingly
  • Build and implement safety assessment to all other SubCo sites, as applicable

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an EHS-related discipline or with extended studies in an EHS-related discipline, from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong understanding of legal requirements associated with EHS issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to manage/coordinate broad spectrum of initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to mentor and coach a new & diverse team


  • 5+ years overseeing the execution of EHS programs.
  • Extensive experience with regional EHS regulatory obligations
  • Solid experience with BCM and Emergency Response programs

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Solid understanding of Safety Differently / HOP




  • Portuguese and English

Bachelors – Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering
